“Ahhh I thought you seemed a technological type, then again most young people nowadays are. Head down to the lab and Captain Oclc will find something for you. You take that elevator there.” He points to a steel door marked DANGER, turns on his heel, and is gone in the time it takes you to blink.

You step into the elevator and it is all polished steel with a couple of marks which look like they were caused by explosions. There is only one button and when you press it you feel like you ride down for a very long time.

The door opens onto a huge room which looks like you could park a jumbo jet in it and still have room for an Olympic sized swimming pool. There is actually a swimming pool where a bored looking clerk is throwing books into the water. It is strange that she seems so unimpressed because each book she throws in jumps out, shakes itself off, then stacks itself alphabetically by author. You ask her where you can find Captain Oclc and she tells you to follow the red DANGER signs, you won’t be able to miss him.

The signs lead you to a space which looks like it belongs in an old Frankenstein movie. Electricity arcs between brass uprights and it seems like there are about a dozen captured lightning bolts in the air. Sitting in the middle of them, casually eating an eggplant sandwich, is a tiny man with the darkest skin you have ever seen. It takes you a few minutes to get his attention but when you do you see that he also has the biggest and brightest smile you’ve ever seen. He waves his hand and the lighting shapes itself into a door which you very nervously step through.

“Hello hello you must be the new summer teen summer teen. Old Greybeard told me you’d be down, Greybeard told me you’d be down.” When he sees your confusion his smile gets even bigger. “Apologies apologies, I like redundant systems, redundant systems. I back everything up, even myself, back up myself.” He’s weird but seems so nice you have to stop yourself from repeating everything he says just to make him happy. “We’ve got some interesting experiments going on, interesting experiments here. Tell me do you think you are a test pilot type of an enforcer type, test pilot or enforcer?”
