Pick your Path – Lost Gold

“Let’s hike the dry riverbed”, you suggest. “We’ll just tire ourselves out hiking over those hills”.  You shoulder your packs, grab your shovels, and head on down to the dry riverbed.

The walk is easy but you soon notice the sky turning dark and hear the sound of thunder. Suddenly, you feel a few drops of rain on your face, then a few more, then a few more...then a lot more! The rain pours out of the sky in huge wet sheets, and you and Jay struggle to stand up as the winds whip around. Suddenly you hear a rumble and the smell of water behind you – the dry riverbed isn’t dry anymore! The two of you need to get out of there before you’re swept away in the oncoming waters.

The banks of the riverbed are steep and would be difficult to scale, especially with your heavy packs. There’s a big pile of rocks in the middle of the riverbed that you could climb onto, but they’re about 50 yards away and you may not be able to reach them in time.
