Killer Space Monkeys

It’s a fine day on the starship Wombat, a supply vessel taking a load of Venusian ore to planet Ux-14 in the Farfel galaxy, 8 million light years from earth. It’s your first trip as the ship’s cook – in fact, your first trip out of the galaxy – and you can’t wait to ply your cooking skills for the hungry crew.

The first few days in space pass quietly as you savor your newfound freedom from your dull home space colony of New Detroit. But as you’re prepping Uranian burritos for the crew’s lunch, you feel the ship begin to suddenly shake! Sirens start to howl and warning lights begin to flash on and off all over the ship. “ATTENTION CREW!” comes the captain’s voice over the loudspeaker. “WE ARE UNDER ATTACK FROM SPACE MONKEYS! I REPEAT, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK FROM SPACE MONKEYS! SECURITY TEAM TO THE BRIDGE!” “Space Monkeys!”, you think to yourself. “Aren’t they the most feared space pirates in the galaxy?”.

You drop the burrito in your hands and race out of the kitchen. In the corridor, you see the other crew members scurry frantically, either running to safety, or running to fight the invading Space Monkeys. You hear the sounds of laser fire further down the corridor. Terrified as you may be, you feel duty-bound to fight the Space Monkeys – even if you are just the ship’s cook. On the other hand, those escape pods down by the engine room are looking pretty tempting too….
