You decide on VNMD 630 – it might be inhospitable, but at least you might be able to land near the settlement. You program your choice into the computer, and the pod begins to rocket toward the desert planet.
The pod begins to shake violently as enters the planet’s atmosphere. You feel a sudden thump and realize that you must be on the planet’s surface. You put on your helmet, grab your survival kit and exit the pod…only to realize that you’re nowhere near the settlement!
And to make things worse, the rough landing has knocked out all the pod’s electronics – preventing you from transmitting a distress signal. Looks like you have no other choice but to die a slow and painful death under the blazing sun….what a way to go!
