Killer Space Monkeys

Killer Space Monkies artwork

“Yo, I might be a decent Space Cook but I’m no Space Soldier, that’s for dang sure!”, you think to yourself as you grab the survival kit and space suit you keep stashed in the cupboard. “I’m getting the heck outta here before the Space Monkeys turn me into shish-kabob!”

You race to the escape pods as you clumsily get into your space suit. You hear the sound of laser fire behind you and you’re thankful you got away from the fighting in one piece. When you reach the bank of escape pods, you notice that there’s only one left.

“Just in time!” you think as you hop in and close the hatch. You strap yourself in, push the ejection button, and then are thrown deep into your seat as the escape pod rockets away from the doomed starship.

Now that you’re out of immediate danger, you start looking through the onboard computer’s databanks for a place to land your pod, as you only have 24 hours of air on board. The computer comes up with two choices: Yrpydrp, a small blue planet covered in oceans; or VNMD 630, a large desert planet. Yrpydrp has a breathable atmosphere but is uninhabited except for fish; VNMD 630 has a small settlement near its north pole, but the planet is roasting hot and the air is unbreathable.

Which do you choose?
